13:12 I will make human beings more scarce than pure gold,

and people more scarce ¹  than gold from Ophir.

32:9 You complacent ²  women,

get up and listen to me!

You carefree ³  daughters,

pay attention to what I say!

[13:12]  ¹ tn The verb is supplied in the translation from the first line. The verb in the first line (“I will make scarce”) does double duty in the parallel structure of the verse.

[32:9]  ² tn Or “self-assured”; NASB, NRSV “who are at ease.”

[32:9]  ³ tn Or “self-confident”; NAB “overconfident.”
